Los Cabos Area Activities and Outdoors - Information Database
Cabo San Lucas, Tourist Corridor and San Jose del Cabo
Welcome to our year-round playground! When it comes to sports and activities, few tropical destinations can match the appeal of vacationing in Los Cabos. An ideal climate and diverse terrainin or out of the watermakes Los Cabos perfect for any family member.
Los Cabos is a veritable oasis for outdoor activity. Under the water you can swim, snorkel, and SCUBA dive, swim with dolphins, even get up close to our underwater world in a submarine! On the surface of the water, you can fly across the bay on a Waverunner, take a sunset cruise, or kayak on the aqua-blue waters. Above Los Cabos, you can get a bird’s eye view from a parasail, a zip line, a helicopter, or an ultralight. And on terra firma, there’s horseback riding, hiking, eco-tours, ATV excursions, motorcycle rentals, high performance formula kart racing, as well as just hanging out at Cabo’s main beach, Playa El Médano.
Jacques Cousteau christened Los Cabos “The Aquarium of the World.” Anglers call it “the world’s greatest fish trap.” The Sea of Cortés and the Pacific Ocean abound with such a variety of game fish, billfish, other aquatic wonders that it’s irresistible to pros and amateurs alike. One of the many sportfishing charter boats, with an experienced captain and crew, help make a day of fishing a rewarding experience. Annual offshore fishing tournaments award millions of dollars in prizes each year, and the purses are growing. Catch and release is the recognized manner in which most of these tournaments are run, and state-of-the-art equipment is also helping save our waters from being over-fished.
While we’re still known as the sport fishing capital of the world, we are also the undisputed golf capital of Latin America. Our courses are professionally designed and pristinely maintained. Course designs by Jack Nicklaus, Dye Corporation, Robert Trent Jones II, Tom Weiskoph, Tom Fazio, Greg Norman, and Bickler/Schjenan are spread along the ocean, desert and arroyos throughout Los Cabos. More new championship courses are being completed that will continue to challenge even the most adroit players.
However you enjoy our great outdoors, don’t forget the sunscreen!
